Data Model for UCD Properties
Utilizing Properties is key to utilizing UCD effectively. To use Properties effectively, it is important to understand the different types of properties
The following diagram illustrates the various places that you can define properties within UCD and how the different places relate to each other.
This is a personal interpretation of the data model and is not an official diagram. Note that I know that there are additions to this data model that I have not updated. For example, Component Templates now have ‘Resource Property Defs’ which is not in the diagram.
For example, within the configuration of a Component Template, there is a
Configuration Tab with three property sections – Properties, Component Property
Definitions and Environment Property Definitions. If you define a property in the ‘Properties’
section, then that property automatically shows up in the ‘Component Property
Definition’ configuration for all Components based on the template.
Note that where the diagram says ‘Basic Settings’, it is referring to the Basic Settings section of the configuration of the given type of artifact.
